5 questions with Janae Baron of Hungry Runner Girl

Meet Raptive creator Janae Baron! Janae shares her running experiences, family adventures, love for food, and the highs and lows of life on her popular website, Hungry Runner Girl. Since 2009 she has completed 19 marathons, with number 20 on the horizon—and her readers have been with her every step of the way.

1. What’s been your favorite marathon?

Boston 2022 was my favorite marathon! I had dreamed about running a sub-3:00 marathon at Boston for a decade, and I was finally able to do it. It was the best I’ve ever felt in a race, and I truly enjoyed 25 of the 26.2 miles.

2. What running-related content do you most—and least—love to create?

I love sharing the mental side of training. I love sharing with my readers that we can do hard things, that we can reach our goals throughout motherhood, careers, aging, and more. I love sharing gear and gadgets that I have found to really help me in my running. I’m least excited when writing about the monotonous part of running. I want my site to show that running is an adventure!

3. How do advertisers benefit from working with content creators?

I have found that readers really grow to trust the creator! A lot of us have been around for a very long time and have built up a relationship with our audience by sharing the things that we truly love and want them to try, too.

4. What is it about your content that makes you stand out?

I think it’s that I’m a positive person and try to keep things real. I share the failures and that my life is kind of a mess a lot of the time as I try to keep up with four kids.

5. What’s your go-to post-run meal?

After every single run, I have a Core Power protein drink and also make a green smoothie with spinach, kale, chard, frozen bananas, and frozen berries. I also love eggs with plenty of salt and a side of hash browns!
