Discover Workbook

Turn Google Discover uncertainty into smarter content decisions

Discover clicks can climb one week and drop the next, and the traffic number alone never tells the full story. The Discover Workbook connects publishing activity, visibility, click-through performance, and content patterns in one place, so you can see what to review, improve, test, or repeat.

Why Discover, why now

Google Discover deserves a closer look

As search traffic becomes less predictable, Discover gives your content another path to reach readers with related interests, building visibility even when nobody is typing a keyword into Google.

A path beyond the search bar

Discover surfaces your content to readers based on their interests, not their queries. That makes it a meaningful way to diversify as AI reshapes traditional search results.

Google is investing in Discover

Over the last year, Google has rolled out more Discover features and, in February 2026, announced its first-ever Discover-focused core algorithm update, rewarding original, timely content.

Aligned sites are already winning

After the update, our SEO team measured meaningful growth across the Raptive network: 72% click growth for travel sites, 34% for news sites, and 26% for smaller niche sites across verticals.

Methodology: Active users were defined as sites that visited the Discover Workbook at least twice after launch, compared against a no-visit control group. The top two and bottom two scores were removed from each group to reduce the impact of outliers. Discover performance is never driven by a single factor, and these results are not guaranteed.

What’s inside

Five views, one practical question

Is this about reach, click-through performance, publishing activity, or content patterns? Each view focuses on a different signal so you can decide which changes are worth making.

01

Discover Scorecard

A quick, high-level read on your Discover performance. Review visibility, engagement, publishing activity, and performance trends to understand what may be driving a change, without relying on a single traffic metric.

02

Visibility

See if your content is being surfaced in Discover: whether new pages are gaining traction, how publishing activity affects performance, and which topics and formats are earning visibility, so you can tell a visibility issue from a click-through issue.

03

Conversion

Evaluate whether high-visibility pages are earning clicks, and compare patterns across titles, images, and top performers to learn what’s worth testing.

04

Author insights

Compare publishing volume, reach, and click-through performance by contributor, so editorial decisions rest on patterns instead of a single metric.

05

Segment builder

Compare two groups of pages side by side, by time period, contributor, timing, titles, or images, to turn a broad traffic question into a specific editorial decision.

When it helps

Built for the moments when the number alone isn’t enough

The Discover Workbook doesn’t replace editorial judgment. It organizes your site’s data so you can pair performance trends with the context you already have about your content, audience, and publishing strategy.

Why new content isn’t gaining traction

See whether recently published pages are earning visibility in Discover and how they compare with other content on your site.

Why visible pages aren’t earning enough clicks

Compare pages with strong impressions to spot patterns in titles, images, framing, or topics that may be affecting click-through performance.

What to publish next

Review topics, formats, contributors, publish timing, title patterns, and image types before deciding which ideas are worth building on.
