Meet Daniel Yepez, L2 Tech Support Specialist

Meet Daniel Yepez, L2 tech support specialist!
Daniel is part of the team that helps creators troubleshoot technical issues, optimize site performance, and stay compliant, so their content (and ads) can load faster and perform better.
He shared how seeing an ad opened the door to his tech career, why compliance is such a big deal, and his favorite part of working at Raptive.
How did you get into tech?
I always say that tech found me. I was working as an audio engineer when the pandemic hit and put a stop to live events. But I’d always had an interest in web development, so I started creating websites for friends and family.
One day I saw an Instagram story for a bootcamp, and before I knew it I was taking classes over Zoom, working with classmates on different projects, and building my experience. I loved it. It was a great way to step into tech, and it’s funny that ads are what got me here in the first place.
How is the L2 team different from other support teams?
We specialize in the technical side—not just ads, but how the whole site is running and how quickly elements on the page are being rendered. We have a system set up to monitor each site’s performance, and whenever we spot an opportunity to improve, we’ll reach out to the creator.
A better site experience leads to a better ad experience, which means a lot more money for our creators.
What’s your favorite part about working at Raptive?
The people. Everyone’s really nice, funny, and helpful. I’ve learned so much here and made so many friends who can point me in the right direction if I need help. There’s always someone who can guide you and work with you to find a solution.
Part of your role is making sure our ads adhere to compliance laws. Why is that such a big focus at Raptive?
Each region has different regulatory laws that are constantly evolving. It’s critical that we stay ahead and can quickly make adjustments to make sure every Raptive creator’s ads are fully aligned with these laws.
If creators ever have questions about their site’s compliance, we encourage them to reach out to our team and we’re happy to help. We have incredibly smart people on our team and our compliance approach is rock solid.
If creators have questions about compliance, how is your team able to help?
As an example, one of our creators got a letter about cookies dropping before readers had the opportunity to give consent in Europe. It wasn’t related to the site’s ads, but our team was able to work together to figure out what was going on and block those cookies from dropping. The issue was resolved quickly, and it feels really good when we’re able to help people in those stressful situations.
If creators are facing an issue and not sure what to do next, can they reach out to your team?
Yes! We love to speak to our creators as humans. Sometimes I have people question whether or not I’m a bot, and I tell them, “No, it’s Daniel. I’m a real breathing person!” We personally look into every question to come up with a solution, work with them to stay compliant, and, of course, do whatever we can to increase their revenue.
