Meet Christiane Carter, Senior Brand Marketing Manager.

Christiane has designed everything from intimate creator dinners to large-scale brand activations. Along the way, she’s learned practical lessons that any creator (or event host) can use to make gatherings more meaningful.

She shared what motivates her to plan multiple events a year, why the details matter, and what to keep in mind if you’re planning an event of your own.

How would you describe your role at Raptive?

I am Raptive’s party person. We’re a digital-first company, and most of our work takes place online, but I have the pleasure of bringing the Raptive experience to life. These events come in many forms: a happy hour at a creator conference, a retreat for Platinum Elite and Luminary creators, or a dinner with our Remarkable Voices alumni

What is the Remarkable Voices program and how are you involved?

Remarkable Voices is an initiative Raptive launched in 2021 to help BIPOC creators grow their owned platforms. We provide access to experts who help them expand their digital brand in whatever direction they want to take it. I’m part of the team that assesses applications, develops the curriculum, and identifies the faculty who join us each season. It’s such an honor for me to work on this program.

Planning one event is stressful enough for most people, what keeps you motivated to plan multiple events each year?

I’m a very project-oriented person, and I’m motivated by things that have a start and end date. I’m the same way in my personal life when it comes to crafts and creativity. I get inspired by artwork, or a craft kit, something I can challenge myself with that’s tied to a specific goal. Planning events is like that, too.

I always think about our creators and publishers throughout the process and ask myself, ‘Will they enjoy this? Will they be able to connect with each other? Will they be challenged to come out of their comfort zone?’

Seeing our guests experience what we’ve put together is really satisfying, and all of those questions are answered in real time.

When you’re planning a big event, what’s one detail you never overlook?

I’m very bullish on dietary restrictions.

It’s our priority to make sure everyone has the same level of enjoyment, no matter what.

So when someone says, ‘Gluten-free food at events is always so bland, but this has been amazing,’ it’s a huge achievement to hear that they felt seen and comfortable because of the efforts my team and I put in.

What advice would you give someone planning their own event?

If you’re planning a social event like a wedding or party, something you invite friends and family to, those events should also serve you

If all you can think of is stress, pressure, and fear of failure—fear of getting it wrong—then perhaps you need to change your strategy. Instead of inviting 50 people to your anniversary party, maybe it’s the top 10 closest to you for an intimate dinner. That way, not only will you be able to celebrate, but you’re able to enjoy it.

If you could describe Raptive in-person experiences in three words, what would they be?

Empowering, energizing, and engaging.

Empowered, because we want folks to feel like they have the power, skills, and knowledge to achieve whatever goal they’re working on.

Energizing, because they’ll be motivated by the energy in the room and the excitement of being part of this community.

And engaging, because you aren’t a spectator at a Raptive event, you’re part of the moment.

You make the moment. Your presence is what makes these moments so special.
